Hey h o So here we go for the last time. No really, this is it. For 10 years I have sat down on a Monday morning and written this column - 52 weeks a year without exception. No high days, no holidays, no Xmas Day, Boxing Day or birthdays off. Of course by Sunday I can't remember what I've written so, propped up with a head like a bag of bolts and a face like a crumpled bag, I read it when it is delivered, sometimes Clip on charms cringing, o f te n h i di ng i t fr om my h usb and. I hav e w ri tte n i t in bed, at desks, in cafes, hotels, on stranger's laptops and with the help of ye olde fax machine in the UK, Spain, London and the USA.
During this time my son grew from a podgy Primar y 1 boy to battling the hormonal highs and lows of his teenage years. All covered candidly on this page.
I've had highs and lows of body weight, mood and, of course, times when life's walloped me so hard I fell over and didn't think I would ever get up. But I did. And in no smal l w ay, th a nks to y ou. Letters, cards, comments in bars, incongruous conversations with readers in lifts, bars, supermarkets, airports, the Western Isles, more bars, Glasgow, Banchory, Dumfries, Spain, London. Youngsters, middle-aged and older folk and men. It seems the hairier sex can't resist a wee look when their wives say 'God I know exactly what she means' as we share the universal joy of living with the lesser-spotted, often annoying Scots male.
Dave, my long-suffering husband, has had the peshwari ripped out of him for his snoring, dress sense, habits and for just being a typical curry-eating, wine-gargling, slightly further back down the foodchain Scotsman. Many a ti m e h e h a s t ur ned to m e af te r I have done something appalling and said 'God I wish I had a column' and I thank the Lord he doesn't. He too has mixe d feelings about the column coming to an end - mainly lingerie wholesale joy. Everywhere I go people ask about Dynamite. I'm happy to say she is here riding shotgun, my dear pal who has stood by me through thick and thin - that refers to the size of my body and the state of my life. A better cheeky wee boozy pal you could never wish for.
There have been world-changing days. Awful days. 9/11, The Tsunami, Haiti... There has been humiliation such as the New Year's eve live broadcast when I stood like a lemon on a rooftop in Edinburgh as the entire TV programme blew away round me but, as my dad always said, 'You live a long time af ter you're laug h ed a t'.
If th a t's tr ue I s hould make it to 250. It all started when I presented a chat show on STV and the then Sunday Mail editor Allan Rennie asked me if I would like to write a column. 'Me? God, I don't think I can do that'. 'Och, give it a shot,' he said. Ten years on here I am. The column changed from being about celebs to life in Scotland with a bloke, a kid, two mutts and a de ep love of crisps, chocolate and wine. The paper's support spurred me on to write a best-selling book, The Nappy Years. I'm forever grateful as I hurtle into 2010 with two novels in the pipeline.
The response over the years has been heartwarming.
The hardest day, not only in the past 10 years but in my life, was the day in May 2008 when I lost my dear Dad. I was bowled over by the hundreds of messages, cards and letters you took the time to write. Each one brought me a genuine feeling of comfor t and of not being alone. It's dawned on me that's exactly what this column is about - unplanned and unexpected you, me and that hairy fool over there, we are all the same. Warts and all. That feeling we all suffer from the human conditi

Boxing Champion Manny Pacquiao’s mother, Dionisia Pacquiao, charmed people at the ABS-CBN compound during her surprise visit there on July 20.Dressed simply in white pants and a rather ordinary colored top (but accentuated with a couple of bling-blings and a pair of huge Dior shades), Aling Dionisia, as she is now fondly called by her “fans,” was introduced to the company executives Cory Vidanes, Linggit Tan, Charo Santos-Concio and ABS-CBN President Gabby Lopez, no less.Lopez urged Aling Dionisia to join their roster of talents.
wholesale sexy lingerie“Dito na ho kayo kasi,” he coaxed. When Santos-Concio asked Aling Dionisia if she would want to appear in an ABS-CBN show, specifically for an episode in “Maalala Mo Kaya,” Manny’s mom flashed a showbiz smiled and said: “Pag-usapan natin ‘yan.”Aling Dionisia later received more plaudits upon visiting the set of popular ABS-CBN noontime show, “Wowowee.”Show host Willie Clip on charms Revillame graciously noted Aling Dionisia’s presence, inviting her to the center stage.“Gusto ko lang bumati sa mga kaibigan ko…nag-request kasi sila na yakapin daw kita [looking towards Revillame] kaya ayan…[proceeds to hug the host]…ayan…sana masaya na kayo…dahil masaya din ako,” she cooed as the TV audience erupted in cheers.Aling Dionisia also met comedian Pokwang, one of the show’s female hosts, who is now very popular for her spot-on impersonation of Aling Dionisia. They hugged, belying rumors that she doesn't enjoy Pokwang’s imitation of her.A “showdown” of sorts ensued when dance music was played and both Pokwang and Aling Dionisia boogied with wild abandon on the “Wowowee” stage.Obviously impressed with the reception Aling Dionisia received, Revillame invited her to co-host the show, to which Aling Dionisia could only reply, again, with a showbiz smile.Another ABS-CBN mainstay who is seemingly awed by Aling Dionisia is Boy Abunda.Upon seeing how she links of london charms won over the crowd in “Wowowee,” Boy urged her on air to “sign up” with him as a “talent.”“Aling Dionisia, you’re an original. Kung kailangan mo ng manager, tawagan mo lang ako,” Boy said.
Two of the most beloved classic novels happen to be Lewis Carroll's whimsical set of tales: "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking-Glass."
replica breitling watchesDirector Tim Burton adds his spin of creativity and suspenseful, imaginative twists to the traditional tale in his new film version, "Alice in Wonderland."
As a child, Alice Kingsley has reoccurring nightmares of a place she calls "Wonderland," and fears that she has "gone round the bend." Her charming father, however, assures her that the best of people are imaginative.
The story unfolds to have a 19-year-old, independently feminist Alice (Mia Wasikowska) being pressured to marry the Lord Hamish, who is horribly drab and dull. From the beginning, Burton cleverly relates all of the Victorian-age characters to the beloved classic characters from the book.
Surprisingly, a lot of the film directly ties in with the familiar tale. Many intricate details are not left out, warming the atmosphere of the film. Alice still thinks of six impossible things before breakfast, and finds allies in the beloved characters. The Cheshire Cat still has a smile large enough to make you grin, and the Unbirthday Party is yet again quite a performance.
However, the familiar lines fade into a sexy lingerie china haze as the plot wears on. The Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter) has an alarmingly grotesque way of ruling her court, far more detailed than the original version portrays. The Knave of Hearts also seems to have a bit too pronounced of a part than tolerable. The Jabberwocky has a bit more of a part than in the normal version of Alice, yet it is to be expected with Burton, a director partial to dark humor.
It is also slightly upsetting to find that the Hatter (Johnny Depp) seems to have almost a bit more of a part than Alice. Although Depp is a well-loved actor, he seems to put Alice in the shadows when he takes the stage. It's no wonder even the "Alice in Wonderland" movie poster featured the Mad Hatter's face.
Highlights are the lovely set, which was perfectly surreal and fantastical. The numerous creatures also are well portrayed, even the few new lovable heroes. It is no doubt that some of the actors and actresses nailed their parts.
Depp does amazingly well with his mischievousness, and Mia Wasikowska is just as dreamy and curious as Alice. However, the perfectly cast part has to be Ann Hathaway as the White Queen, playing her part of eloquent royalty beyond expectations.
The most unexplained portion of the film was the silly jig the story seemed to be set around, which the Hatter will only do if the White Queen once again regains the crown. It did not seem fitting to put in a nonsensical bout of a break-dancing sort, while leaving out Dinah and a few other principal events.
In truth, the movie should be rated PG-13, due to some extremely frightening situations. It definitely would not be recommended to take young children to the movie, for fear of nightmares. Burton did not fail to add in his usual bout of dark undertones.
Overall, the movie was brilliant in concept, magically combining the fairy tale of hopes and dreams in "Peter Pan," putting a spin on the original "Alice in Wonderland" and mixing it into a lovely resemblance of "The Chronicles of Narnia."
But, who could ever tell what will happen in Underland? After all, it just gets curiouser and curiouser. http://mywatches.bloggey.se/2010/02/03/money-pound-notes/
